E.D. Hill knows you are asking, “Why should I buy “I’m Not Your Friend, I’m Your Parent”? “. Here are a few emails that have come in.
Recently, I purchased a book by E.D, Hill,”I m Not Your Friend, I’m Your Parent”
www.HillFriends.com (A former Co-Host on FOX & FRIENDS” cable T.V. SHOW – LOVE it, but miss her on the show!!! I got to meet E.D. a couple of years ago, when Glenn and I went to NJ for a conference~Anyway, I definitely RECOMMEND IT! I began reading it, & I browsed through the pages and subsequently dipped into the back of the book and was delighted in finding the “Sample DRIVING CONTRACT”. Finally, IN PRINT, something that “TELLS IT LIKE IT IS!” in way, we can all comprehend and implement in our lives and the lives of those we love…
I was soooooooooooooo impressed with this, that I wanted to share it with you too! I just printed it and will share it with our daughter, who is 17 and has been driving for a year now.
(IMPORTANT to me, especially, because those who know me personally, know that my Father died in 1996 from a senseless and tragic accident, caused by DRUNK DRIVER!)
God bless!

This is from Marie in Pennsylvania-
“I have been reading your new book and I must admit I am in stitches half the time because it’s like you took an excerpt from my daily life only with more kids. I am a stay at home mother of 3 daughters, Abigail is 9, Madison is 6 and Phoebe is 3. Reading through your book has given me so much encouragement that I am not insane (well, not totally anyways). I am only halfway through, but found the part of the book about allowances invaluable. This has been an issue of late in our household and I found the chore guide and info on the websites to be of great help!”
And from Maria-
“E.D. I loved your book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I couldn’t put it down. It reinforced things that I already knew and at the same time gave me tips on things I didn’t know.”
And from Mary in Ohio-
“I heard you discuss it on FNC and planned to read it and then share it with my daughter-in-law. After only a few chapters, however, I ordered another copy and had it sent to her directly. Didn’t want to waste any time! It is so refreshing to have a book that is full of practical advice for non-permissive parents!”
I’m not a perfect parent and no one else is. But…raising 8 kids in a yours, mine and ours environment certainly teaches a person valuable lessons! This book is the ANTIDOTE to permissive parenting. If you ever feel guilty saying “No”… or question your wisdom when your kids say “But everyone else’s mom lets them” …or perhaps wonder if you can be a best friend and a parent to your child, then you need and will LOVE this book.

Anyone who watches my programs knows I speak from the heart, I’m brutally honest, and it drives me crazy when I have to report about out of control kids with parents who say “I just couldn’t handle them.” Yes, you can. I can. Everyone can. It’s not easy and it takes time but if you’ve decided to become a parent you’ve taken on a job- not an internship where you watch while others raise your children for you. This book defies the so-called experts who tell us that our focus should be on helping a child feel good about themselves…no matter what they do. Through hilarious and colorful stories about my own kids, viewer emails sharing their child rearing experiences, and advice from experts who don’t have a daughter named “Starchild”, you will learn how to be part of a seemingly disappearing group…parents who raise children everyone can be proud of. The chapter “Driving, Dating, and other Death-Defying Feats” also offers guidelines for determining when your child is ready for dating, how to keep track of them and what they’re doing, and how to set curfews and make sure they are adhered to. Other chapters discuss manners, dress codes, allowances and chores, and drinking and drugs. Much of the book is funny, some of it is scary, but all of it is enlightening.
