South African conservationist, Lawrence Anthony, told E.D. Hill about his efforts to save the animals of the Baghdad Zoo in Iraq.
His book Babylon’s Ark details his efforts to save these animals helplessly caught in the crossfire. Anthony explains how he and some brave zoo workers risked their lives on a daily basis to protect the animals from looters and starvation. Anthony was able to pull strings, call in favors and enlist the help of some US soldiers to do whatever it took to rescue these animals.
