Thanks for visiting HillFriends.com, the ultimate guide to what’s new and notable for news junkies and parents, edited by E.D. Hill. Thanks for your interest!
From E.D. Hill - Everyone asks me what Bill is like. I explain that he is one of the truest, most loyal friends a person could have. He will do anything to help a person in need. However, anyone who is an enemy better run because Bill is spending life pursuing justice. Why is he the way he is? What do his former history students think about his tough teaching approach? AND what is he wearing in the picture on page 163? That is worth the price of the book alone! After reading this very open, painfully honest, hilariously funny book you will absolutely understand what makes Bill tick.
E.D. Hill knows you are asking, “Why should I buy “I’m Not Your Friend, I’m Your Parent”? “. Here are a few emails that have come in.
Recently, I purchased a book by E.D, Hill,”I m Not Your Friend, I’m Your Parent”
www.HillFriends.com (A former Co-Host on FOX & FRIENDS” cable T.V. SHOW – LOVE it, but miss her on the show!!! I got to meet E.D. a couple of years ago, when Glenn and I went to NJ for a conference~Anyway, I definitely RECOMMEND IT! I began reading it, & I browsed through the pages and subsequently dipped into the back of the book and was delighted in finding the “Sample DRIVING CONTRACT”. Finally, IN PRINT, something that “TELLS IT LIKE IT IS!” in way, we can all comprehend and implement in our lives and the lives of those we love…
I was soooooooooooooo impressed with this, that I wanted to share it with you too! I just printed it and will share it with our daughter, who is 17 and has been driving for a year now.
(IMPORTANT to me, especially, because those who know me personally, know that my Father died in 1996 from a senseless and tragic accident, caused by DRUNK DRIVER!)
This is from Marie in Pennsylvania-
“I have been reading your new book and I must admit I am in stitches half the time because it’s like you took an excerpt from my daily life only with more kids. I am a stay at home mother of 3 daughters, Abigail is 9, Madison is 6 and Phoebe is 3. Reading through your book has given me so much encouragement that I am not insane (well, not totally anyways). I am only halfway through, but found the part of the book about allowances invaluable. This has been an issue of late in our household and I found the chore guide and info on the websites to be of great help!”
And from Maria-
“E.D. I loved your book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I couldn’t put it down. It reinforced things that I already knew and at the same time gave me tips on things I didn’t know.”
And from Mary in Ohio-
“I heard you discuss it on FNC and planned to read it and then share it with my daughter-in-law. After only a few chapters, however, I ordered another copy and had it sent to her directly. Didn’t want to waste any time! It is so refreshing to have a book that is full of practical advice for non-permissive parents!”
I’m not a perfect parent and no one else is. But…raising 8 kids in a yours, mine and ours environment certainly teaches a person valuable lessons! This book is the ANTIDOTE to permissive parenting. If you ever feel guilty saying “No”… or question your wisdom when your kids say “But everyone else’s mom lets them” …or perhaps wonder if you can be a best friend and a parent to your child, then you need and will LOVE this book.
From E.D. Hill - I weigh about 125 pounds and I do eat! When I met Dr. Arthur Agaston I was about 20 pounds heavier. I’d just had my fifth child and was having a tough time getting the baby weight off. Dr. Agaston’s diet changed me. I’ll honestly tell you the first three days were tough but then it was a cakewalk. Now, thanks to this great cookbook, I can cook healthy, low fat meals that everyone in the family (ages 4-16) enjoys! As a bonus for busy moms-and who isn’t a busy mom-the meals can usually be prepared start to finish in less than 20 minutes.
Get the book. It works. I give it to my friends.
When I need advice about how to handle issues with my children I talk to Bill. His advice is solid, honest and it works. I read this book then gave it to my 13-year-old and instructed her to read it before the O’Reilly’s came for dinner. She did and said it was very good although she begged not to have to “give Mr. O’Reilly a book report”. It addresses the issues bill tackled growing up and what today’s children and families are dealing with. In the style he is famous for, Bill lays it out. Problems, solutions and strategies. Everyone will benefit from reading it.
One of the most riveting books I’ve read recently. Doug Wead selects the most significant political families in America to investigate how these mothers and fathers raised future Presidents. What books selected by Abe Lincoln’s step-mother shaped his views? How did Joe Kennedy’s womanizing lifestyle impact JFK’s behavior? Why did one set of Roosevelt parents raise more empathetic and successful children than the other? It’s such a good book that I discussed parts of it with my 9-year-old…and he was interested!
